Marketing leaders hiring a social media manager want growth, engagement and a point of view. A resume that says you managed accounts is not enough. They want to know which channels, what results, which content formats and how you work with the rest of the team.
Link to proof. A social role is one of the few where the evidence is public, so include links to accounts you grew or a short portfolio of campaigns. Choose carefully, since the reviewer will click, and make sure the examples reflect your current standard.
Report metrics with context: follower growth over a period, engagement rate before and after, click-throughs to site, leads or sales attributed to social, and cost per result for paid campaigns. Explain what you changed, such as a new format, posting rhythm or community approach, so the reader sees cause and effect.
Strategy and tools complete the picture. Mention content calendars, brand voice guidelines, reporting cadence and the tools you use for scheduling, design, video editing and analytics. If you managed budget or worked with influencers, include the scale.
Social media managers are the public voice of a brand, so community management matters. Describe how you handled comments, complaints and reputational issues, and how you escalated them. A line about turning a negative thread into a resolved customer shows judgement.
Collaboration is also critical. You work with designers, sales, customer support and leadership. Show how you gathered ideas, reported results and adapted to feedback. Keep the resume to a single page with a clear link to your best work.
Use the exact wording from the job description where it is true for you. These terms come up often in this field:
Start with a strong verb, say what you did, and finish with the result. Fill in your real numbers. If you do not have a number, describe what changed instead.

Strongly recommended. Link to accounts you grew or a simple page with examples and results.
Use your own channels, volunteering, student groups or freelance work, with real metrics.
Engagement rate, reach, follower growth, click-throughs, leads and sales, depending on the company's goals.
One page, with a working link to your best accounts or portfolio near the top. Hiring managers click through for proof, so the resume only needs to earn the click.
Include them with context: growth over a period, engagement rate and what drove it. A big number without a timeframe or an outcome looks like vanity.
Use them, with honest numbers. A student society account you grew, a small business you helped or your own niche page all show the skill, provided you describe what you did and what changed.
